The goal of the Environmental Management System implemented at OM Szopienice is to manage the impact on the natural environment in such a way that activities in this area become more efficient and better aligned with the overall operations of our organization.
The main premise of environmental management at OM Szopienice is to improve the relationship between the effects of human activities and the environment. The environmental management strategy primarily includes:
These strategic goals are achieved, among others, through the modernization of the plant and the implementation of new technologies. Since 2018, we have been carrying out a R&D project aimed at increasing the share of scrap chips in the charge structure (metal melting) to 100%.
All our environmental obligations are included in the IPPC permit, and their proper implementation is confirmed by all inspections conducted by the Environmental Protection Inspectorate. We meet all BAT conclusions regarding the best available techniques for non-ferrous metal industry, in accordance with the European Parliament and Council Directive 2010/75/EU (as per Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2016/1032 of June 13, 2016).
